Over the years, we've braved through thick and thin, good times and bad. Never in my life will I ever find true friends whom I can share my experiences, my happiness, my sadness, and basically my life with. Friends whom I am proud to be associated with, friends whom I feel proud mentioning their names to others, friends whom I don't feel belittled or undermined when I'm with them, friends I welcome into my home as long as I live.
We are friends because we know that no one can be better friends than we are. We are friends because we know that we will always be there for each other. We are friends because we know that the lives we lead will never be complete without each other.
We grow, we age and we whither... But our friendship shall never waver nor relent... We leave, we depart and we may go our separate ways more often than not... But we will always return knowing our friendship never left our sight.
The magnitude of our friendship has never been measured by units because its immeasurable. The importance of our friendship has never been quantified by mere numbers because its infinite. The essence of our friendship has never been compared because its incomparable.
We may offend each other, but we know at the back of your minds that we do not mean hostilities. We may hurt each other, but we know at the back of our minds that we do not wish to inflict hurt. We may disagree with each other, but we accept each other's views humbly and modestly.
We grow with time, we learn from each other, and we heed advice from one another. We were never created as equals and we will never be alike. But we can take heart in our friends to lead the way and show us the truth, the meaning and the way of life.
We accept our friends for their misgivings, we forgive our friends for their trespasses and we lead our friends to the path of righteousness.
As friends, we learn to give and receive. We give advice but we also learn to accept advice. As friends, we learn to lead and follow. We take the lead but we also learn to follow the rest. As friends, we love and be loved in return. We love each other without pretence nor agenda, but we also learn to accept love whole-heartedly and gratefully.
When friends say, we listen. When friends think, we empathise. When friends hope, we deliver.
Let's take a moment and reflect upon these words. Have we offended anyone lately? Have we hurt anyone with our words or actions lately? Have we turned our backs to anyone or shrugged them off lately? Have we judged anyone or caused discomfort to them lately? We are not saints, but mere humans. We are not immortal, but vulnerable. We are not invincible, but destructible. Its not a shame to admit our misgivings but a shame if we let go of each other's hands.
We've come thus far... Don't let go of each other's hands...
