Hello everyone,
seemed like this blog has been laying dormant for quite awhile, and I also have to admit that I have not been contributing much in the recent months.
How's everyone? I hope all of you are doing fine and picking up the momentum for your studies. I have been here for more than 2 weeks and I still miss Singapore as much as when I first arrived. But things are all good for me and I am pretty much settling well.
I have finally finished the workshop today, after 2 weeks of intense designing and building, our glider actually performed quite well in the test. Thanks to some of you for the constant encouragements, even though I always say its hard and everything, you guys just perked me up with all the 'don't worry, you can do it, sure can wan lah' , I think all these have lifted up my mood so much, making me feel that I am still so very at home and close to you guys.
Thanks especially to the few that have been looking after Ivy and keeping her company. Both of us really appreciate all these kind actions greatly and Ivy often mentioned how much she enjoyed and cherished the company. Many many thanks to you guys!
I just received my time-table and realised how big a jump it is from 1st year to 2nd year. Time-table is so much packed up compared to last year's. I just want to urge all of us to relish the challenge that is coming at us in the new year. Be it school work, project, deadlines, essays, do it with pride and confidence. I always believed that we are always put in situations that are within our strengths and abilities to overcome, if we choose to. All I can say is after this year and when we look back at the things that we have accomplished, we will not regret not putting in enough effort or not having try hard enough. We can never control the results but I strongly believe we can control the efforts that we put in.
Study hard and work smart; and at the same time take time to rest and reflect too. If things are going wrong, stop and ask yourself what went wrong. Take the step to change or to accept the criticism that is to come with them. Learn from them and I am sure even the worst problems that you have will be made more pleasant. If things are going right, of course be thankful, and humble and continue to use it to maximise your potential.
Having said that, I think all of you are capable individuals that are good enough for anything in this world. It is just a matter of choice actually, whether if we choose to go for it or to run away from it.
Take care everyone, as I embarked on my new year while many of you are already half way there, remember to keep you focus and goals in sight. Speed does not necessary means direction and more often it does not bring you to your destination. Do things with patience, and be patient with success also. Work to your fullest potential, ok? Life is not about being successful, but the process that comes before it, right?
I pray that everyone of you are happy and healthy, not forgetting all your parents and family also. Have a good mooncake festival!
Til we meet again, bye for now.
God bless
Victor

"I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat."

We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many long months of struggle and of suffering. You ask, what is our policy? I can say: It is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us; to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark, lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy. You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: It is victory, victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival. Let that be realised; no survival for the British Empire, no survival for all that the British Empire has stood for, no survival for the urge and impulse of the ages, that mankind will move forward towards its goal. But I take up my task with buoyancy and hope. I feel sure that our cause will not be suffered to fail among men. At this time I feel entitled to claim the aid of all, and I say, "come then, let us go forward together with our united strength."

itch

It's late at night and both my forearms are itching. I dunno what bit me but I think there may be a little infection. :( And it must have been made worse by the amount of prawns I ate just now.

I'm blogging now because something's on my mind. It has basically got to do with the clique. Recently, or maybe not so recently, I've been seeing little quarrels happening here and there. I'm really really pissed off by this.

What is it that happened that made it difficult to sit down and talk? To talk like before? We are all already 21 yr old OLD MEN already who have had friendships for the past 10+ years. Is the friendship so unsubstantial that simple misunderstandings can result in cold wars between some of us? Why are some of you behaving like little girls when you all are supposed to be matured and grown up? And yes, if you all do think about it, sometimes we do behave like little girls.

It is so true that misunderstandings happen here and there. But I'm sure the misunderstandings will not be as severe as to have a cold war. Why? Big ego is it? Ego or friendship more important?

Hai.. life is short man. Tomorrow I may be knocked down by a car and it really sucks to have a feeling when I leave this world the last moment on my mind of that person is that he is having a completely stupid and silly misunderstanding with me.

I'm very sure that ALL of us care alot about one another. Maybe it is just the way we are brought up that makes it difficult to open up and shake hands with one another. Whatever it is, I'm very sure too that the feeling of having cold wars SUCK. Can some of you shake hands please?

Sorry for the sudden outburst guys. You guys are just so much part of my life and you all know friendship as much as or more than I do. It is time not to just know but to act on it.

Another one for Seto

After the first match of the season, lets have the round up of the interesting moments of the matches. We have John Dykes from ESPN and Yuyee from the BSB and Terence from the Eastsides to analyse the highlights of the match.

John Dykes : Hi Yuyee and Terence. Welcome to the show.

Terence & Yuyee : Hi John.

John Dykes : Woah. The game this morning was an interesting affair. A high tempo game given that it was only the first game. Please guys, tell us what u felt about that game. Yuyee, u first.

Yuyee : Back Street ROCKS man. As i say, the Eastside sucks. I have already warned them and told them straight in the face to put up a good fight for us. But in the end, it was an expected scoreline. Eastsides are a bunch of losers. Just in case u dunno, i will tell u guys the scoreline again. The BSB won the Eastsides convincingly, 7-5. Even Songjie, our Kezman of the team, got onto the scoresheet. How about that?

John Dykes : Erm.. Well.. I guess so. How about u, Terence?

Terence : Well, i would say we lost to a slightly better team i guess. I have to congratulate the BSB and will sportingly fully acknowledge their win. We are professionals. Winning is part and parcel of life. We wouldn't deny our opponents a win, esp since they win us only once in a blue moon.

John Dykes : Very Sportsmanlike...

Yuyee (cutting in rudely) : Nabei cheebye. What once in a blue moon. Kaninabei. Can always play again. U think we scare u ah?

John Dykes : Woah.. Calm down.. I'm sure that Terence dun mean it that way.. Besides, its quite a fact that BSB win the Eastsides once in a while...

Yuyee : Eh, Enough hor John.. Nabei.. A person has a limit to his patience one hor..

Terence : Yah.. But a monkey doesn't have mah...

Yuyee gets up from his seat and attempts a cheap shot at Terence but is stop by his minder.

John Dykes : Woah, cool it guys. U are both stars in the making. Lets not start this again.

Yuyee : He started first hor..

Terence : Did not.

Yuyee : Did too.

Terence : Did not.

Yuyee : Did too.

John Dykes : .............

After a couple of mins of comforting by their minders, Terence and Yuyee started to cool down and continued with the interview.

John Dykes : Ok. Now for the next question. Let's ask Terence this time first. Terence, what was the main reason for the loss?

Terence : I guess, its kinda my fault. I have to admit that. I didn't score any goal and didn't even assists any. Its kinda off day for me. As u know, when its my off day, Eastsides tend to perform worse. Besides...

Yuyee (Cutting in rudely once again) : Yah yah.. Excuses...

Terence tries to get up and confront Yuyee, but is restrained by his minder..

John Dykes : Guys, i have just received a tip from my sources. It seems that the Eastsides purposely lost the match to serve as a reminder to their outgoing member Hu Liren. It seems they want to remind him that one should not expect to win all the time, there are losses and wins in this world. Care to comment about this?

Terence : Eh, John.. We on national TV lei.. This kind of thing u know i know can already.. No need to tell the world.

John Dykes : Opps Sorry.. But what i'd like to say is that u guys are really Great! U eastsides are willing to give up your pride to taech a friend a valuable lesson in life. For this, i salute u guys!!!

Yuyee : .......

Yuyee : Nabei Cheebye.. What kind of lanjiao is this? U actually believe this kind of cock stuff ah.. John u bloody dickhead.. Cunt face..

John Dykes : .......

Terence : Eh, Yuyee.. u not that handsome urself either.. Y call people a cunt face when u have a cock face urself..

Yuyee : Nabei Cheebye.. Kaninabei.. U can insult my family, my dog, my cat, but dun insult my face...

Yuyee poke his fingers into Terence's eyes.

Terence: Arggggghhh. Cheebye! My eyes! My eyes!

Terence feels around and manage to locate Yuyee. He grabs his balls and gives it a few good squeezes.

Yuyee: Wooooooooooooo

More interception by the minders before both stars slump into their seats.

John Dykes : Yuyee, are u ok?

Yuyee : I'm fine

John Dykes : So guys, what do u think will we expect to see the next time both teams meet ?

Yuyee is still unable to speak following the attack by Terence...

Terence : I think we will see the Eastsides will wack the BSB the next time round..

John Dykes : Ok.. We shall see then.. Thanks once again gentlemen for your precious time.

For Seto

Just before the kick off to the new season, two well known pundits from the soccer frantinity were discussing about the possible outcome of the early kick off match.

Ah Kow : Hi Aaron, its been a long time since i saw u.

Aaron Cock : Hi Ah Kow. Yeah, its been a long while, ever since the last match of last season.

Ah Kow : So, what do u think of the match tmrw? Will the Backstreet be able to over come the might of the Eastside?

Aaron Cock : Frankly speaking, although i'm a supporter of the BSB, but i dun see how can they overcome the Eastside. Sadly, as a matter of fact, i find it difficult to even remember the last time we beat them.

Ah Kow : Oh yes, i remembered that time. It was the time where the BSB won by a freak free kick. I remembered that Songjie, Weiqin and Yuyee of the BSB were lining up to take a free kick. Songjie and Weiqin were jumping over the ball to act as a distraction for Yuyee who was taking the free kick. However, by the time the distraction was over, the Eastside Boys were on the floor rolling about and laughing, including Seto, their goalkeeper. Yuyee then took the chance of sending the free kick into goal. Cheap goal, i would say.

Aaron Cock : Yeah, as a BSB supporter, i would agree its a cheap goal. But its still a goal wasn't it? Well, but anyway, Kudos to the Eastsides. It was the only time that we beat them. Sighz.. Unfortunately for the BSB, they are such sore losers.. Everytime the Eastside wins, they will refuse to acknowledge it and have the audacity to claim that they won. Then whenever they score a goal, they heavily publicises it.. As a supporter i feel somewhat ashamed..

Ah Kow : Oh come on. No one is blaming u. Its the BSB faults, esp wif a certain Yeo and Woon player in their team.. They are the ones responsible for it.

Aaron Cock (looking a little pai seh) : Yeah.

Ah Kow: Ok. We are done with the past man.. Lets look ahead to tmrw's match. Tell me Aaron, who do u think is the most dangerous man that the Eastside should watch out for?

Aaron Cock : Yeah. Its definitely going to be Esmond. He's the soul to the BSB. His passes and his tactical awareness. Its definitely a plus point for the BSB. But lets just hope he doesn't play them out at the last minute, it happened before.

Ah Kow : Oh yeah. I would agree to that too. What abt the Eastsides? Who would be the one terrorising the BSB?

Aaron Cock : The Eastsides are probably one of the best teams around. Their players are all world class and professionals. Even when they win, they wouldn't even mind letting the BSB claim that we won, just to let us feel happy. The Eastsides are truely a great team and filled with professionalism and great players.
Just look at them. At the back, they have Hu Liren, a solid centre back with great strength to hold off any attackers. Good in the air.. although he does scores a couple of own goals, he fully makeup for it with his defensive work. Anyway, i would think he does it on purpose so as to make the scoreline less humiliating for the BSB.
In the middle of the field, they have Felix-san, who likes to dictate the flow of the game. Truely one for the future. The Steven Gerrald of the Eastside.
At the front, they have the wonderful Terence Sim. Woah.. that guy is the one i admire the most, he can run, can shoot, can head, can..... I could go on hours just to talk about his agility and his wonderful reading of the game. His tenacity and never-say-die attitude is truely one that makes him stands out of the team. Just the opposite of Hu Liren, he never does gives a hoot about the BSB. He just gets the ball and scores the goals. He would always wanto make the scoreline as humiliating as possible for the BSB, who he thinks does not deserved to play soccer at all except for Esmond. To him, they are a disgraced to soccer. That unfortunately, i would have to agree with him. Sighz...
And also there's Lam, aka the One Touch Man. Boy.. the Eastsides have TALENT written all over them.

Ah Kow : Erm.. So who do u think will be the man to look out for ?

Aaron Cock : Definitely Terence Sim.

Ah Kow : I see. From the looks of things, i would say that the BSB will have to look for a miracle.

Aaron Cock : Yeah, i think so too. But I'll be there to support them no matter what.

Ah Kow : Hey, i heard that tmrw is actually a testimonial match for Hu Liren. In fact, its his last game for a long time.

Aaron Cock : Yea, it is. Hopefully the BSB wouldn't use it as an excuse when they lose. The last time when it was Hu Liren's birthday, they actually claimed that they let him score the winning goal as a birthday present.. Sighz.. Feel so ashamed..

Ah Kow : Never mind. Its alright, i guess the Eastsides have gotten used to it by now. As u say, they are professionals.

Aaron Cock : Yeah.

Ah Kow : So whats ur take on this game ?

Aaron Cock : Let's jus say that i hope that we wouldn't lose so badly....

Ah Kow : Ok, Good Luck to u guys then.

farewell

Hihi guys,

It's back to that time haha, where one of our friends will be leaving us for months again. Blackie will be leaving for UK on the 12th Sept which is the Tuesday after next week.

After discussing with the NTU/NUS ppl on their availability, programs wil be planned as such:

Wed (Optional): Movie "Lucky Number Slevin (RA)" @ Cathay Cineleisure Somerset, 7.25pm. Because I heard and think that show will be very worth watching haha, followed by our favourite chill-out @ the Cheesecake House.

LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN
Rating: R21Consumer
Advice: Sexual Scenes
Language: English and Chinese Subtitles
Genre: Action thriller
Director: Paul McGuigan
Cast: Ben Kinsley, Bruce Willis, Josh Harnett, Lucy Liu, Morgan Freeman

Wrong Time. Wrong Place. Wrong Number.

A case of mistaken identity lands Slevin (Josh Hartnett) into the middle of a war being plotted by two of the city's most rival crime bosses: The Rabbi (Ben Kingsley) and The Boss (Morgan Freeman). Slevin is under constant surveillance by relentless Detective Brikowski (Stanley Tucci) as well as the infamous assassin Goodkat (Bruce Willis) and finds himself having to hatch his own ingenious plot to get them before they get him.

Thus: Private meeting between Blackie and I. No interruption allowed. :)

Sat: Morning Eastside vs Backstreet Soccer @ TJ. Farewell game for Blackie. Stake: Losers will be taunted.

Sunday (Compulsory): Dinner @ Lim Peh's House @ 8pm. Potluck. On the part of the host, I'll prepare juicy succulent prawns, Black Lotus Soup and Lam's favourite Muthu Curry. Actually yea it's my Mum who will be preparing most of it. I haven't asked her yet but I'm sure it won't be a problem.

Please state your availability. Thanks.
